K. Balachander was a Tamil playwright and filmmaker. He had a unique way of making and directing film. Hr mainly worked with hard hitting issue and burning subjects. He was born on 9th July 1930. He had a career of over 50 years. He worked on 100+films with actors like Kamal Hassan, Chiranjeevi, Rajnikanth, Renuka, Nassar, Prakash Raj etc. He won 9 National film Awards, Padma Shri(1987) ,13 Filmfare Awrads and Dadashaeb Phalke Award. Some of his famous films are Varumayin Niram Siagppu, Ek Duuje ke Liye, Apoorva Raagangal, Avargal, Moondru Mudichu, Sindhu Bhairavi, Thaneer Thaneer etc. On 23rd January 2014, he died from urinary infection after suffering from age related ailments.
